Gearing up for Vic.ism and it's all systems go. Starting off with the Marc Riley session on Thursday 29th: Then it's a race to Gulliver's after, Vic and the Sobs are on about 10ish ish. The Sect's own multi talented Mark Braby will be introducing us to his new band Thee Potato 4 with the Sob's Ian Holford on drums and local group Greetings complete the bill. The gnu will be bringing a very limited amount of limited edition merch, including Vic.ism T Shirts, Vic.ism limited edition epcd of Vic and the Sobs live at Love's Rebellious Joy 29/08/2011 and some Live and Rares.
Packing is proving a bit of a prob, coming by train so limited space and already redone 3 times-bit obsessive but hate last minute rush (that's me not Vic, who has a very chilled approach to preparations!). We've got some great posters for the Sounds in the Suburbs gig @Stereo Glasgow, design courtesy of Andrew Shaw, again v limited numbers. Friday we move on to Newcastle, a place close to the gnu's heart. The Star and Shadow is a great venue and as well as Vic and the Sobs, Thee Potato 4, an extra treat on the bill is Pauline Murray. Vic.ism all comes together in Glasgow with the SITS gig on 1st December, Tea with Vic at the Poetry Club 4pm Sunday 2nd December and Pierrot Le Fou and Q&A with Stephen Pastel at the Glasgow Film Theatre (8.30pm). The live performances will also feature a Sound of Young Scotland mobile exhibition of photographs taken by Harry Papadopolous. These projections will feature photos of Vic along with the Scottish groups (Orange Juice, Josef K, Fire Engines, etc) that were inspired by seeing Subway Sect on the White Riot tour thirty five years ago. The whole thing culminates in London on 7th December with Vic and the Sobs rerecording Better Not Turn On at Edwyn Collins' studio followed by Symptomatic Presents Vic.ism Finale at the Boston Arms With the Duel and The Kandy Kane Kids also on the bill.
Can there be too much Vic.ism? Will I be vic.ismed out by next Monday? Course Not!!! A list of Vic's Desert island Discs for Stupified Blog Spot http://theworldsamess.blogspot.co.uk/2012/11/stupefied-vic-godard-playlist.html
